Cinna-bun Cake

 

 

My mom makes the best cinnamon rolls. I don’t make cinnamon rolls… I was craving my mom’s cinnamon rolls, but she’s gone. So I had to improvise. Enter the cinnamon bun, or as our 2-year-old calls it, the Cinnabon bun.

A buttery mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon is rolled into a white cake and topped with frosting in this Cinnabon® Swiss Roll Cake recipe. My mom makes the best cinnamon rolls. I don’t make cinnamon rolls…

We’ve offered three versions of this recipe, a generous 9″ x 13″ skillet for a large family or sharing food fortune, as well as a small 9″ x 9″ version for a small family and an air fryer version.

*ingredients

+a base:

°3 cups of flour

°1/4 teaspoon salt

°1 cup of sugar

°4 teaspoons baking powder

°1 1/2 cups of milk

°2 eggs

°2 teaspoons of vanilla

°1/2 cup melted butter

°1 cup soft butter

°1 cup brown sugar

°2 tablespoons of flour

°1 tablespoon of cinnamon

+icing

°2 cups of powdered sugar

°5 tablespoons of milk

*How to make cinnamon bun

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F .

Prepare a 9″ x 13″ baking dish by spraying nonstick cooking oil or, if you prefer, grease the dish with butter.

In a large bowl, mix all of the basic ingredients except for the butter until well combined.

Add the melted butter last and pour it into the prepared pan; Put aside,

To prepare the filling:

In a small bowl, mix all of the icing ingredients together; Mix well to combine.

To assemble the cake for baking:

Drizzle the filling with a teaspoon onto the base, as evenly as you can, all over the base.

Use a butter knife and roll the filling into the base.

Place in the preheated oven and cook for 28 to 30 minutes.

To prepare and use the icing:

While the cake is baking, use a small bowl to prepare the frosting by mixing all the ingredients together until well combined; Put aside.

Remove the cake from the oven and freeze the cake while it is still warm.
